Light and Life

Pardon the interruption but how are you dealing with your feelings? Are you aware of what’s going on inside you?
Or do you just suppress them into oblivion so you won’t have to face the pain or regret? How about when you’re elated? Do you just take these moments for granted and act like it’s no big thing?
For many years Lowry avoided his emotions so that he could survive. Then, he came to the place where he felt trapped inside without any means to get out. He was afraid that if he began to let his feelings emerge, that he wouldn’t be able to stop the stampede. If he felt the sadness, he would never be able to stop crying.

So, something had to give and he found that as he came alive emotionally, he could explore his emotions through writing poetry.
Lowry discovered that as he promulgated his inner life through letting his feelings express themselves from the mind and heart down onto the hands and onto paper, this effort became cathartic.
Originally, his pilgrimage was intended for his eyes only, something private and fragile. Eventually, as he gained more healing, he started to feel these outpourings gave definition as to who he was, and, at least, needed to be shared with those closest to him – daughters and siblings and eventually grandchildren (in order to leave a legacy for them to build upon). Gradually, he warmed to opening himself up to his closest friends and, at some point, anyone who might need to learn from his experiences.
Therefore, you are welcome to join in Lowry’s world of emotion as he developed in his walk towards “Life and Life”. And may these words become in you a well of inspiration and vision as to who you may become!
